Crows are watching you all the time
The wisdom of crows
Do you know about crows?
Or ravens or magpies or the other big black birds we often call crows?
They’re fascinating creatures.
Just go through a few YouTube videos about crows and you’ll see what I mean.
For example:
*crows have funerals for their fallen friends
*they can see which direction you’re looking in, and they act accordingly
*they exhibit all kinds of deliberately playful behaviors
*they remember humans as friends or enemies
*they build tools with more complexity than chimpanzees (and most humans!) are capable of building
*they bring gifts consistently to people who befriend and feed them
*they are songbirds, and have different ways of speaking in public vs. among close family
*they learn by watching other crows do new things
You’ve seen many thousands of crows in your lifetime, but have you ever paid any attention to them?
They live almost everywhere on the planet, and most people ignore them…
Instead, people walk around lost in the labyrinth of rumination and fake suffering in their minds.
But crows offer you a way out of that mess.
They offer you a daily chance to bring presence and attention to the world you live in.
They’re always watching, learning, growing, and evolving themselves to flow more smoothly with their environment.
That’s more than I can say for most humans.
Humans live a lopsided life that favors the thoughts in their minds over the reality they actually inhabit.
Do you truly grasp the madness of living that way???
You miss out on the magnificence of life…every single day.
All the beauty and opportunity around you flies under your radar, while you wander around looking down at your phone, or lost in worries in your mind.
Worries never helped anyone actually deal with the reality of their lives.
In fact, worry often creates future problems by keeping you focused more on delusional thoughts than direct experience.
This is the mess you’ve probably inherited as a human on earth.
Want to remedy that situation?
Study the crows that live around you.
Pay attention to them.
Bring a pocket full of dog food and peanuts to toss to the crows you see.
Watch how they fly and play.
And by all means, start to live a more embodied and present life::: no matter what it takes.
